MUXUX ULEU
Muxux Uleu is inspired by stories of my great-grandfather, Simeon Cruz, who was a ceremonial dancer and active figure in the Quiche Maya and Ladino community of Joyabaj, Guatemala. Muxux Uleu reflects on the Guatemalan Civil War and the genocide of Maya peoples.
Performed at the South-Side Community Art Center (Chicago), You Me Gallery (Hamilton, Ontario), Western Front (Vancouver, BC), and Tribe: Center for Evolving Aboriginal Arts (Saskatoon).
