Commissioned by the Vancouver Art Gallery, I created a performance in reaction to the Passstücke sculptures of Franz West. West considers these sculptures completed by coming into contact with the human body. Kristine Stiles has commented that the sculptures are challenging in that they embody the external, -the spaces outside of us. This notion of embodying the external inspired me to consider the contrast between the sculptures’ delicate whiteness, stiffness, and neutrality as opposed to the unruliness of human flesh.
