Bananera was a performative installation inside a large yellow shipping container. Inside I sewed a large banana bunch and invited members of the public to join me and discuss issues relating to international commerce, such as the possibilities and limitations of fair trade.
A hanging installation inside the shipping container sought to evoke the cool green light created by canopies of banana leaves that I remember seeing at Bananera, an immense plantation in Guatemala.
